Currrent in Police Custody, is the Managing Director of the Ofure Royal Medical Centre located at Upper Uwa Street, Benin City, Dr. Omokhomion Kingsley, for allegedly conducting abortion at his clinic.
Dr. Omokhomion was apprehended by police officers from the Zonal Criminal Investigation Bureau, Zone 5’ police headquarters, Benin City, following complaint that a woman’s pregnancy was terminated.
It was learnt that police operatives brought a patient disguised as a pregnant woman demanding to abort her pregnancy. The doctor alongside four nurses were arrested while attempting to terminate the pregnancy.
A Police source told the Nation that its operatives recovered a lifeless fetus and hospital equipment suspected to be abortion apparatus.
The hospital was raided following a complaints sent to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the zone, Mr. Musa Daura who stated that the woman whose pregnancy was aborted happens to be on a danger list at another hospital.
The arrest of the doctor was confirmed by the acting spokesperson for the Zone, Emeka Iheanacho. Iheanacho affirmed that the police have been investigating the case of abortion, adding that the hospital has been under surveillance.

“All of them were arrested because they were involved in the act and they are telling us their involvement in the act.
“As I am talking to you, the person involved is still laying critically in a hospital,” Iheanacho averred.
