Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) President-elect, has yet again, explained to Nigerians that activities in his administration will not be business as usual.
This statement is coming amid reports that Buhari has preference for whom the leader of the Senate should be or which part of the country he has to originate from.The former Head of State stated that he is not averse to the eventual candidate for the coveted post, insisting that he is willing to work with any leader of the Senate, irrespective of what part of the country he or she originates from.
The retired Major-General, in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, May 13, described as false, insinuations in the media that he was in support of any particular Senator’s emergence as Leader or that he belonged to any camp pushing for the emergence of a leader from a particular part of the country.Vanguard reports that Buhari reiterated his commitment to working with any leader that the House or Senate selects, adding, “it doesn’t matter who the person is or where he or she is from.
Buhari also informed the media practitioners in the country and the general public to start getting used to the fact that things will no longer be business as usual.“There is due process for the selection of leaders of the National Assembly and I will not interfere in that process”
He noted therefore, that;
“Nigeria has indeed entered a new dispensation. My administration does not intend to repeat the same mistakes made by previous governments”.Recall that a young man reportedly trekked from Lagos to Abuja to congratulate the President-elect shortly after winning the March 28 Presidential election.
