Worried that your boyfriend might be addicted to sex? Is this a real “worry”? Do you have any reasons of concern because of his potential or soon to be proved sex addiction? Is it causing him to be unfaithful to you or is his strange sexual behavior affecting your lovemaking?
The truth of the matter is that sex addiction is, in fact, a serious matter, just like any other form of addiction and it should be treated responsibly. If you are not sure if he’s a sex addict or not, here are some signs that should tell you whether your boyfriend is, in fact, suffering from this addiction.
Sign 1: He is having lots of affairs or he is being unfaithful all the time.Reasons enough to end any relationship for most. This is a leading symptom of sex addiction. If your sex life is normal, and you have not ignored your partner in the bedroom, consider his affairs to be a crucial sign that he might be a sex addict.
Sign 2: He is masturbating every day. Unless you are pregnant, or you have recently given birth to a child or you have other physical or psychological issues that might be preventing you from having intercourse with your boyfriend, he should not be masturbating that often.
Sign 3: He does a lot of sex surfing. If he is using his computer to visit tons of porn sites (you could check the history on his computer when he’s not around), he might be a sex addict. Occasional porn watching is of course normal, but if this turns into an all-day, everyday type of a matter, it’s a bit to much to on the compulsive side of things.
Sign 4: He is constantly chatting online. Even when you are at home, and you are eagerly waiting for him to join you in bed, he rather stay away, logging long and suspicious hours online, visiting porn web sites, instead of having intercourse with you. If his online behavior is causing serious disruptions in your relationship, he might be suffering from sex addiction.
Sign 5: Your boyfriend has a poor libido. If he did not use to be this way in the bedroom, and he has recently started to be all weird, avoid your presence in bed, and refuse to have sex with you, he could be having a limp libido because of all of the affairs or masturbation he is doing. Unless he proves to have some sort of psychical malfunction and nothing else could be standing in the way of your usual love making, he could be facing a sex addiction.
Sign 6: Your boyfriend has an excessively demanding libido. If wants to have sex 3 or 4 times a day, he is almost certainly a sex addict
Sign 7: He is always running late. If your boyfriend is constantly running late for your dates, this might be the sex addiction consuming all of his time. After all, this addiction, just like any other type of addiction is a time-consuming one. Seeing a clear pattern of broken commitments could be indicating the existence of a problem.
Sign 8: His sexual behavior has turned unconventional. If he used to be a normal in the bedroom, sticking to the traditional positions, then all of a sudden, he looks like he is starring in and directing a porn movie each time you touch romantically, he might be showing signs of having a sex addiction.
Sign 9: He started spending way more money than ever before. Unless he has some solid reasons to do so, he is probably spending all that extra money on porn sites, prostitutes, or mistresses. I suggest you take a look into what’s draining all his cash.
Sign 10: He had a troubled childhood. Having been molested as a child or suffering other childhood trauma could definitely lead to a sex addiction. According to Dr. Drew 80-90% of sex addicts have suffered trauma as children.
If you happen to notice all or several of these signs in your boyfriend, talk to him, confront him, ask him what is going on and if it turns out he has a problem, recommend him to go see a specialist in sex addiction.
